A customer in Mexico had bought two Schmidt blast pots from us more than ten years ago. We lost touch, then last year they came back to buy brass hose couplings — and quickly emailed to say one had failed in a single day, which is almost unheard of. I asked to visit their plant. When I got there, I found the two original Schmidt pots still in service. The pressure vessels were in great shape, but the rest of the system had been patched together with undersized hoses and cheap aftermarket metering valves that were failing every two weeks — causing constant downtime. Another supplier had told them their Schmidt pots were obsolete and that parts were no longer available. That simply wasn’t true. We had shipped a brand-new Schmidt pot to another customer that same week, and we’ve supported Schmidt equipment for over ten years. We rebuilt both pots with genuine MV3 valves, twinline hoses, deadman controls, and ComboValve kits. The customer smiled and said, “Thank you, you have saved my life.”
